The number of billionaires has reached a new high, totaling 2,781 individuals, which is an increase of 141 from the previous year and 26 more than the previous record set in 2021.

Their collective wealth has skyrocketed to $14.2 trillion, marking a $2 trillion rise from 2023 and surpassing the previous record by $1.1 trillion, also established in 2021. Remarkably, two-thirds of the individuals on the list have seen an increase in their net worth compared to last year, while only a quarter have experienced a decline.

A significant portion of the increase stems from the top 20 individuals, who collectively amassed an additional $700 billion in wealth since 2023. Notably, the United States leads the pack with a record-breaking 813 billionaires, boasting a combined wealth of $5.7 trillion. Meanwhile, China maintains its position in second place, with 473 billionaires (including those from Hong Kong), totaling $1.7 trillion in wealth, despite challenges such as subdued consumer spending and a downturn in the real estate sector, which led to the erosion of approximately $300 billion in wealth. India, with its 200 billionaires (also a record high), secures the third spot.
